Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 26, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 11. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Vibe recreational trailers, model ORVBT236RBS-64. The Federal Placard has incorrect rear tire information, indicating ST205/75R15C tires inflated to 50psi, when the actual tires are size ST225/75R15D inflated to 65psi. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

The risk

The incorrect tire information can cause the operator to install the wrong size and load range of replacement tires, or underinflate the existing tires. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners will provide them a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-541-644-8063. Forest River's number for this recall is 64-05232017-0413.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V346000.
