Gulf Stream Coach, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 26, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 272. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. (Gulf Stream) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Vista Cruisers and 2016-2018 Vintage Cruiser travel trailers. The Tire Identification Label incorrectly states that the trailers are equipped with ST215/75R 14 Load Range C rated tires when actually they have ST205/65R 14 Load Range D rated tires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 567, "Certification."

The risk

The incorrect information may cause the user to install the wrong replacement tire, affecting the vehicle's handling, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Gulf Stream will notify owners and will provide them a corrected Tire Identification Label, free of charge. The recall began on June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787. Gulf Stream's number for this recall is GS250517.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V344000.
