Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 7, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 7. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 Rockwood and Flagstaff recreational vehicles. The Federal Placard may indicate an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) of 2,200 lbs when the correct GAWR actually is 3,000 lbs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The risk

Inaccurate GAWR information on the Federal placard can increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owner's, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on April 21, 2017. Owner's may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-2640. Forest River's number for this recall is 10-04042017-0366.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V235000.
