Schwarze Industries, Inc.: Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings
Schwarze Industries, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 28, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 129. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Schwarze Industries, Inc. (Schwarze) is recalling certain 2013-2017 A7 Tornado, A8 Twister, A9 Monsoon, and M6 Avalanche street sweepers. The air brake systems on these vehicles may have been manufactured with the wrong fittings, causing the brake lines to leak air, possibly resulting in the vehicle stopping unexpectedly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The risk
If the brakes apply and the vehicle stops unexpectedly, it can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Schwarze will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incompatible air brake line fittings, free of charge. The recall began on April 13, 2017. Owners may contact Schwarze customer service at 1-800-879-7934.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V214000.
