Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 6, 2017 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 11. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 Prime Time Manufacturing Crusader recreational trailers, model CSF338RSK. The Federal placard indicates that the trailers have axles that have a capacity of 7,000 lbs when their actual capacity is 6,000 lbs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The risk

Incorrect axle information on the placard can result in the trailer being overloaded, causing a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners and dealers will replace the Federal placard with a corrected placard, free of charge. The recall began on March 20, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for the recall is 49-02242017-0331.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 17V141000.
