Keystone RV Company: Equipment › Other › Labels
Keystone RV Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 28, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,651. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Alpine fifth-wheel recreational trailers manufactured August 10, 2015, to December 1, 2016, and Avalanche fifth-wheel recreational trailers manufactured September 11, 2015, to December 1, 2016. The Federal Placard on the affected vehicles may have incorrect spare tire load range information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
If the operator inflates the spare tire using the information on the Federal Certification label information, the tire may be overinflated, increasing the risk of tire failure.
The remedy
Keystone has notified owners, and dealers will replace the Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on January 17, 2017. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 17-275.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V954000.
