Southwest Products: Structure › Body
Southwest Products reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 27, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 182. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Southwest Products (Southwest) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 QP25, QP35, and QP45/50 trailer-mounted generator sets manufactured January 8, 2013, to November 30, 2016. The trailer tongue portion of the trailer may separate from the rest of the trailer body carrying the generator.
The risk
If the generator section of the trailer detaches from the tow vehicle, it could be a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Southwest will replace the trailer assembly free of charge. The recall began on February 3, 2017. Owners may contact Southwest customer service at 1-602-269-3581.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V952000.
