HME, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 27, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 45. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
HME, Inc. (HME) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Type-6 Wildland trucks manufactured January 2, 2015, to December 1, 2016. The Certification label on the affected vehicles may incorrectly list the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) as 15,876 kilograms instead of the correct GVWR of 8,845 kg. (The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 19,500 lbs is listed correctly on the label.) As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
If there is an incorrect weight rating on the label, the operator may overload the vehicle, possibly resulting in a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
HME will mail a corrected certification label to owners free of charge. The recall began on February 6, 2017. Owners may contact HME customer service at 1-616-534-1463.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V934000.
