NHTSA campaign 16V898000 · Part 573 safety recall report

KZRV, L.p.: Structure › Body › Door › Hinge and Attachments

KZRV, L.p. reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 14, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 262. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Venom and Durango Gold toyhaulers and fifth wheel trailers manufactured January 11, 2016, to December 2, 2016. The affected vehicles have rear cargo door hinges with welds on the hinge pin and hinge plate that may be insufficient, and as a result, the top of the door may swing down with more force than normal.

The risk

If the door does not open as expected, there would be an increased risk of injury to those in the door's path.

The remedy

KZRV will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the weld thickness, and if necessary replace the rear door hinges, free of charge. The recall began on January 13, 2017. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016 extension 154 or 153.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V898000.
