Motor Coach Industries: Service Brakes, Air
Motor Coach Industries reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 30, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 41. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain model year 2017 J4500 motorcoaches manufactured March 14, 2016, to August 23, 2016. The affected vehicles may experience a multiplexing programming error that will not provide any visual or audible warnings if the vehicle's primary service brake air reservoir system has low pressure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."
The risk
If the driver is unaware that the service brakes have low air pressure, the brakes may apply automatically, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
MCI will notify owners, and dealers will correct the programming of the multiplexing system, free of charge. The recall began on October 18, 2016. Owners may contact MCI customer service at 1-800-241-2947. MCI's number for this recall is SB 439.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V702000.
