Aluma/Klm: Suspension › Rear › Axle › Non-powered Axle Assembly
Aluma/Klm reported this defect to federal regulators on Aug 2, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 1,839. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Aluma/KLM is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 8605T, 8610T, and 8612T trailers manufactured January 1, 2011, to October 30, 2015. The affected trailers may have misaligned axle mounts, possibly resulting in the axle mounts detaching from the trailer.
The risk
If the axle mounts separate, there could be a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Aluma/KLM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the axle mount alignment, repairing it as necessary. Additionally, flat straps will be retrofitted to the axle mounts. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on September 30, 2016. Owners may contact Aluma/KLM customer service at 1-866-415-3285.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V573000.
