Forest River, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Forest River, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 22, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 4. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2017 Rockwood and Flagstaff trailers manufactured July 8, 2016, to July 11, 2016. The affected vehicles are equipped with a Federal Placard that incorrectly indicates that the ST225/75R15D tires have a recommended pressure of 50 PSI. These tires should be maintained at 65PSI. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

The risk

If the tires are run at a low pressure, they may overheat and fail, possibly causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will provide a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-2640. Forest River's number for this recall is 10-07192016-0230.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V549000.
