NHTSA campaign 16V515000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Lodi Truck and Equipment: Equipment

Lodi Truck and Equipment reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 7, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 179. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Lodi Truck and Equipment (Lodi) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Dominator I, Dominator II, Dominator III, Dominator IV, and Dominator-Propane trucks manufactured April 4, 2013, to January 22, 2016, equipped with IMT cranes, models 6000, 7500, 8600, 9500, 10000, 12000, or 14000. The affected cranes have a valve bank cover that may crack and fall from the crane while the crane is being transported.

The risk

If the valve bank cover detaches from the crane it could be a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Lodi will notify owners, and dealers will replace the valve bank cover, with a thicker cover, free of charge. Owners may contact Lodi customer service at 1-916-372-5634.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V515000.
