Strick Trailers, LLC: Parking Brake
Strick Trailers, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 28, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 45. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Strick Trailers, LLC (Strick) is recalling certain model year 2015 tandem axle 53 foot van trailers manufactured August 18, 2014, to August 28, 2014, and 2017 tandem axle 53 foot van trailers manufactured November 23, 2015, to December 17, 2015, equipped with certain Bendix SR5 spring brake valves. These valves may have been improperly machined, which may cause a delay of application of the spring brakes while parking.
The risk
If there is a delay of the spring brake application, the trailer may roll away after it has decoupled from the tractor, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Stricks will contact owners and provide a remedy kit, complete with instructions, to repair any affected SR-5 trailer relay valves, free of charge. The recall began on August 22, 2016. Owners may contact Strick Trailers Customer Service Department at 1-260-692-1300.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V473000.
