Daimler Trucks North America LLC: Vehicle Speed Control › Accelerator Pedal
Daimler Trucks North America LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on May 18, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2,275. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2012-2015 FCCC XCL, XCM, XCP, and XCR motorhome chassis manufactured January 23, 2012, to April 10, 2014. The throttle pedal position sensor on the affected vehicles may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle's deceleration ability.
The risk
A sudden loss of an engine brake without warning on a motorhome may lead to a reduced brake ability, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will replace the throttle pedal, free of charge. An interim notice was mailed out to owners on July 5, 2016. The recall began on August 18, 2016. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-711.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V321000.
