NHTSA campaign 16V104000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Campagna Motors: Steering › Column

Campagna Motors reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 24, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 80. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Campagna Motors (Campagna) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 T-Rex 16S motorcycles manufactured June 3, 2013 to October 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the steering column could be incorrectly connected to the steering rack allowing the steering column to disconnect from the steering rack.

The risk

If the steering column disconnects from the steering rack, the driver would lose the ability to steer the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Campagna will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and correct the steering column to steering rack assembly, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 1, 2016. Owners may contact Campagna customer service at 1-888-641-2112 extension 222.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V104000.
