PACCAR Incorporated: Power Train › Axle Assembly
PACCAR Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 5, 2016 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 11. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Peterbilt 365 and 367 vehicles manufactured from August 27, 2014, through June 5, 2015, and equipped with drive axles manufactured by Marmon-Herrington. The affected axles have hex nuts on the flange yoke that may not have been properly tightened.
The risk
If the hex nuts are not tightened to specification, the driveshaft may disconnect from the drive axle, resulting in a loss of propulsion and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Peterbilt will notify the owners, and dealers will inspect the torque and, if necessary, tighten the bolts, free of charge. The recall began on March 11, 2016. Owners may contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000. PACCAR's number for this recall campaign is 216-A.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 16V066000.
