NHTSA campaign 15V785000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Supreme Corporation: Visibility › Windshield

Supreme Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Nov 23, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 45. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Supreme Corporation (Supreme) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Supreme Classis American Trolley vehicles manufactured October 1, 2014, to November 2, 2015. The affected vehicles were manufactured with windshields that meet AS2 or AS3 specifications, not the AS1 specification as required. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 205 "Glazing Materials.

The risk

Windshields that do not meet AS1 requirements may reduce the driver's visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Supreme will notify owners, and dealers will replace the noncompliant windshields, free of charge. The recall began on January 11, 2016. Owners may contact Supreme customer service at 1-574-642-4888 extension 237.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V785000.
