NHTSA campaign 15V703000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Terex Advance: Steering

Terex Advance reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 26, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 288. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Terex Advance (Terex) is recalling certain model year 2011-2015 FD4000B, FD5000D, FD6000B, and FD7000B concrete mixers manufactured January 1, 2011, to September 1, 2015. The affected vehicles have steerable tag axles operated by Eaton Hydraulics S26 Gear Pumps. These gear pumps may unexpectedly fail, reducing the ability to properly steer the vehicle.

The risk

The loss of steering ability may increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Terex will notify owners, and dealers will replace the S26 gear pumps, free of charge. The recall began on December 22, 2015. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-800-433-6691.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V703000.
