NHTSA campaign 15V610000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Keystone RV Company: Structure › Frame and Members

Keystone RV Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 30, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 240. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling certain model year 2016 Retreat recreational trailers manufactured July 13, 2015, to September 24, 2015, and model year 2016 Residence recreational trailers manufactured April 2, 2015, to September 2, 2015. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured with an insufficient weld on the rear mounting plate that the detachable A-frame is bolted to.

The risk

If the A-Frame plate detaches from the frame while the vehicle is in motion it can reduce vehicle handling, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Keystone will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the welds and repair them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 22, 2015. Owners may contact Keystone customer service at 1-866-425-4369. Keystone's number for this recall is 15-238.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V610000.
