Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 16, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 34. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain model year 2016 Torque T27, T28, T29, and T33 travel trailers manufactured May 11, 2015, to May 29, 2015. The affected trailers have Federal Certification labels that may be missing the gross axle weight rating (GAWR) information. The risk

The vehicle operator may unintentionally overload the trailer due to the missing GAWR information, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

Heartland will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect certification label with a corrected label, free of charge. The recall began on July 29, 2015. Owners may contact Heartland customer service at 1-877-262-8032. Heartland's number for this recall is 99.01.22.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V381000.
