New Horizons RV Corporation: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer
New Horizons RV Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 15, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 50. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
New Horizons RV Corporation (New Horizons) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Summit and Majestic recreational vehicles manufactured March 11, 2013, to January 30, 2015. In the affected vehicles, a rivet for the quad entry steps may shear and fail, causing the steps to give when being used.
The risk
If the rivet shears under occupant load, the steps may give and the occupant may fall, increasing the risk of personal injury.
The remedy
New Horizons will notify owners, and dealers will remove the rivets and the step sections will be bolted together, free of charge. The recall began on July 7, 2015. Owners may contact New Horizons customer service at 1-800-238-3140.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V374000.
