Navistar, Inc.: Service Brakes, Air
Navistar, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 23, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 68. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 IC CE school buses manufactured August 8, 2014, to February 20, 2015, and 2015-2016 IC RE school buses manufactured July 31, 2014, to January 9, 2015, equipped with Haldex air brake actuators. The affected brake actuators may have been manufactured with an incomplete attachment of the internal rubber diaphragm to the actuation mechanism. This could cause dragging or overheated brakes.
The risk
If the brakes drag and overheat there is an increased risk of a wheel end fire.
The remedy
Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will replace the Haldex Life Seal Brake chambers, free of charge. The recall began on June 19, 2015. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 15505. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-808.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V166000.
