Blue Bird Body Company: Steering
Blue Bird Body Company reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 27, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 40. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Blue Bird Body Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2016 All American transit buses manufactured from September 15, 2014, through January 12, 2015. In the affected vehicles, a clamp on the steering shaft may come in contact with the rubber boot at the floor.
The risk
If the steering shaft clamp comes into contact with the rubber boot, additional effort would be needed to steer the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Blue Bird will notify owners, and dealers will relocate the rubber boot and install a new steering shaft clamp, free of charge. The recall began on March 25, 2015. Owners may contact Blue Bird Customer Service 1-478-822-2242. Blue Bird's number for this recall is R14XE. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 14V-306.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V118000.
