Navistar, Inc.: Electrical System › Wiring

Navistar, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 11, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 6,302. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 IC CE school buses manufactured October 3, 2013, to March 16, 2015. In the affected school buses, the powertrain wiring harness may contact the high pressure fuel line for one of the fuel injectors, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.

The risk

If the high pressure fuel line leaks, fuel may spray into the engine compartment, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional harness saddle and cable tie strap to provide proper clearance, free of charge. The recall began February 20, 2015. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 15501.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V084000.
