NHTSA campaign 15V077000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Nova Bus: Electrical System › 12v/24v/48v Battery › Cables

Nova Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 9, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 35. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Nova Bus (Nova) is recalling certain model year 2007-2009 LFS transit buses manufactured January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2009. A power feed cable in the battery compartment may have been incorrectly routed and clipped. As a result, the battery cable may prematurely wear and short to ground.

The risk

A battery cable that shorts to ground increases the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Nova notified owners, and dealers inspected the buses and correctly routed the battery power feed cable, as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-450-472-6410. Nova's number for this recall is CR1332.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V077000.
