NHTSA campaign 15V073000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Nova Bus: Engine and Engine Cooling › Exhaust System

Nova Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 9, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 10. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Nova Bus (Nova) is recalling certain model year 2007 LFS transit buses manufactured January 1, 2007, to December 31, 2007. In the affected vehicles, the band clamp on the flex pipe between the turbocharger and the diesel particulate filter may be incorrectly located allowing the exhaust pipe to leak hot exhaust gases onto nearby components.

The risk

If the components are exposed to hot exhaust gases, there is an increased risk of a fire.

The remedy

Nova notified owners, and dealers correctly positioned the clamps on the affected vehicles, free of charge. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-450-472-6410. Nova's number for this recall is CR1261.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V073000.
