NHTSA campaign 15V072000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Nova Bus: Service Brakes, Air › Supply › Hoses, Lines/Piping, and Fittings

Nova Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 6, 2015 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 16. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Nova Bus (Nova) is recalling certain model year 2006 LFS transit buses manufactured January 1, 2006, to December 31, 2006. In the affected vehicles, the air lines for the rear brake system may have an incorrectly positioned retaining ring (ferrule).

The risk

The incorrectly positioned retaining ring may allow the air line to detach, compromising the rear axle braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Nova has notified owners, and dealers have inspected the air lines and repositioned the ferrules, as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-450-472-6410. Nova's number for this recall is CR1247R1.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 15V072000.
