NHTSA campaign 14V769000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Nova Bus: Seats

Nova Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 3, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 7. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Nova Bus is recalling certain model year 2012 LFS transit buses manufactured June 27, 2012, to October 15, 2012, and equipped with slim flip-up seats. In the affected vehicles, the anchor rivnut may not properly secure one end of the seat to the bus wall.

The risk

If the seat detaches from the wall, there is an increased risk of injury.

The remedy

Nova Bus will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the anchor rivnut, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began December 19, 2014. Owners may contact Nova Bus customer service at 1-800-350-6682. Nova Bus' number for this recall is CR3280.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V769000.
