Turtle Top: Equipment Adaptive/Mobility
Turtle Top reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 17, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 276. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Turtle Top is recalling certain model year 2006-2014 Odyssey, 2008-2009, 2011 Odyssey LT, and 2007-2008, 2010-2012 Odyssey XL, 2008, 2012 Terra Transport, and 2007-2008, 2013 Van Terra transit buses equipped with certain model S2005, S2010, S5005, S5010, S5505, and S5510 wheelchair lifts manufactured by Ricon Corporation. The platform side plate of the affected wheelchair lifts may crack.
The risk
If the platform side plates crack, the lift platform can separate from the lift and come to rest against the vehicle's lift door. When the doors are opened, the platform may fall out, increasing the risk of injury to the lift operator.
The remedy
Turtle Top will notify owners to take buses to a Ricon dealer or service center who will install supplemental platform support bumpers. Any platform that has already started cracking will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began November 18, 2014. Owners may contact Turtle Top customer service at 1-574-831-4340 or Ricon customer service at 1-800-322-2884.

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V651000.
