NHTSA campaign 14V454000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Greenfield Products: Suspension

Greenfield Products reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 23, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 9. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Greenfield Products (Greenfield) is recalling certain model year 2013 D3; 2014 C3 and 2014 B2 Boom Dolly's manufactured November 2013 to March 2014, and equipped with suspension pivot bolts by SAF-Holland. The affected boom dolly suspensions have pivot bolts that may fail.

The risk

Failure of the pivot bolts may cause the suspension and attached axle to separate from the boom dolly, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Greenfield will notify owners and will replace the pivot bolts, free of charge. The recall recall began on November 21, 2014. Owners may contact Greenfield at 1-708-331-3115. Note: This recall supersedes recall 14V-733.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V454000.
