NHTSA campaign 14V388000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Temsa Global Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Temsa Global Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 1, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 495. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Temsa Global Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S. (Temsa) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 TS30 motorcoaches and 2007-2014 TS35C motorcoaches. The emergency roof labels do not have adequate instructions for exiting the bus in the event of an emergency. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."

The risk

In the event of an emergency, passengers may spend extra time trying to get the roof exit open, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Temsa will notify owners, and dealers will replace the emergency exit labels on the roof exit, free of charge. The recall began on September 4, 2014. Owners may contact CH Bus Sales, US Agent for Temsa, at 1-877-858-3672.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V388000.
