Terex South Dakota, Inc.: Equipment
Terex South Dakota, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 26, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 74. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Terex South Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain model year 2009-2013 LT38, LT40, LTM40, NT29, TL37, HR40, L13i, and TPL40 aerial devices manufactured on 2009-2013 Ford F-350, F-450, or F-550 Super Duty chassis with a 6.8L engine, and equipped with certain Muncie Power Products PTO Assemblies. In the affected vehicles, oil may leak from the PTO pressure switch onto a thermal blanket covering the exhaust.
The risk
The leaking oil may soak into the thermal blanket covering the exhaust, which when combined with heat from exhaust, may result in an increased risk of fire.
The remedy
Terex will notify owners, and dealers will install a new pressure switch kit that moves the switch away from the exhaust system, free of charge. The recall began in September 15, 2014. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-605-882-4000. Terex's number for this recall is SN611.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V371000.
