NHTSA campaign 14V254000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Highland Ridge RV: Equipment › Recreational Vehicle/Trailer › Lpg Systems › Lines and Fittings

Highland Ridge RV reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 23, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 12. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Highland Ridge RV (Highland Ridge) is recalling certain 2014 Open Range LF319 fifth wheel recreational trailers manufactured October 23, 2013, through March 10, 2014. The flexible gas line for the kitchen slideout section is too short.

The risk

When the kitchen area is expanded, the gas line may be pulled excessively, resulting in a gas leak, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Highland Ridge will notify owners and dealers will replace the existing gas line with a new longer gas line, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Highland Ridge at 1-260-768-7771.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V254000.
