Glaval Bus: Equipment Adaptive/Mobility
Glaval Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 30, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 42. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Glaval Bus (Glaval) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 Universal, Primetime, Sport, Concorde, Titan, Titan II, Entourage and Apollo transit buses manufactured January 1, 2007, through December 3, 2012, and equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts, with an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.
The risk
If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.
The remedy
Glaval will notify owners, and Ricon will send owners a supplemental cover kit and instructions, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June 2014. Owners may contact Glaval customer service at 1-800-445-2824 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884 or by e-mail at [email protected].

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V226000.
