Ducati North America: Exterior Lighting › Turn Signal › Switch
Ducati North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Apr 4, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2,083. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Ducati North America (Ducati) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 1199 Panigale and Panigale S motorcycles. The left handlebar switch may not get power from its connection at the dashboard, preventing the horn, instrument panel display, high beam and right turn signals from functioning. As such, these motorcycles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 123, "Motorcycle Controls and Displays."
The risk
The rider's inability to use the horn, right turn indicators and high beam could increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional wiring harness, free of charge. The recall began on June 6, 2014. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati's number for this recall is RCL-14-001.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V166000.
