NHTSA campaign 14V121000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Winnebago Industries, Inc: Vehicle Speed Control › Accelerator Pedal

Winnebago Industries, Inc reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 11, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 198. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Winnebago Industries, Inc. (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Travato, 2014 Trend, and 2014 Itasca Viva! motorhomes manufactured November 13, 2013, through February 11, 2014, and built on the Ram ProMaster chassis. In the affected vehicles, if the accelerator pedal is pushed downward at a certain angle, the pedal may get stuck in the wide open throttle position due to interference with the accelerator pedal stopper.

The risk

A stuck accelerator pedal can result in uncontrolled acceleration, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Chrysler has notified owners, and dealers will replace the accelerator pedal stopper with a larger one, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2014. Owners may contact Winnebago at 1-800-537-1885.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V121000.
