PACCAR Incorporated: Structure › Body › Door
PACCAR Incorporated reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 27, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 827. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Peterbilt 587 vehicles manufactured May 8, 2012, through October 24, 2013, and equipped with Inteva-brand door pad assemblies. Due to loose fasteners, the door pull portion of the door pad assembly may separate from the door when used.
The risk
If an occupant is using the door pull to assist in getting in or out of the vehicle, the sudden detachment of the pull handle may result in a fall, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy
PACCAR will notify owners and dealers will inspect and torque the fasteners to the correct specification, free of charge. The recall began on March 5, 2014. Customers may contact Paccar at 1-425-468-7400. Peterbilt's number for this recall is 1213G.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V015000.
