Cornelius Manufacturing, Inc.: Structure
Cornelius Manufacturing, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jan 23, 2014 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 64. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Cornelius Manufacturing (Cornelius) is recalling certain 2012-2014 model year Deckover Flatbed Trailers manufactured February 2012 through November 2013, and equipped with a ten foot hydraulic dovetail. In the affected trailers, the welded boxes that allows the tail to pivot may fail.
The risk
If the boxes fail, only the hydraulic cylinders would remain to keep the tail from separating from the main part of the trailer. Should the cylinders fail, then the tail could detach, increasing the risk of an accident.
The remedy
Cornelius will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the boxes and re-weld them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 20, 2014. Customers may contact Cornelius at 1-812-636-4319.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 14V011000.
