Starcraft RV, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels
Starcraft RV, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 20, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 50. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Starcraft RV, Inc. (Starcraft) is recalling certain model year 2014 Comet BK, BW, BX, and BY recreational vehicles manufactured August 22, 2013, through December 10, 2013. On the affected vehicles, the certification label incorrectly identifies the load range of the tires. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars."
The risk
An inaccurate label may result in the installation of replacement tires with an insufficient load range which may lead to sudden tire failure and an increased risk of a crash.
The remedy
All affected trailers are quarantined in dealer inventory. Starcraft will send corrected labels to those dealers. The recall began on January 20, 2014. Owners may contact Starcraft Customer Service at 1-800-945-4787.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V654000.
