Starcraft RV, Inc.: Equipment › Other › Labels

Starcraft RV, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 3, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 26. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Starcraft RV, Inc. (Starcraft) is recalling certain model year 2014 16BH AR-ONE trailers manufactured between June 3, 2013, through September 30, 2013. The vehicles were built with tires of a lower load range than the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating requires.

The risk

If the trailer is loaded to the gross vehicle weight rating that is listed on the label for the higher capacity tires, the tires may suddenly fail increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Starcraft RV will notify owners and dealers will replace the tires and the spare tire with new ST175.80R13D tires and issue a correct tire label, free of charge. The recall began on January 8, 2014. Customers may contact Starcraft at 1-800-945-4787.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V609000.
