NHTSA campaign 13V608000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD: Structure › Motorcycle › Kickstand/Center Stand

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD reported this defect to federal regulators on Dec 4, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 416. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Triumph Motorcycles America Ltd (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2013 Trophy SE motorcycles manufactured June 1, 2012, through February 28, 2013. In the affected motorcycles, the left hand center stand mount may fracture.

The risk

If the center mount fractures, it will not provide adequate support for the center stand while the vehicle is parked and may cause the motorcycle to fall over, increasing the risk of injury to those nearby.

The remedy

Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will install a new center stand bracket to the left hand side of the motorcycle frame. The recall is expected to begin during January 2014. Customers may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SB508RM2013/033.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V608000.
