NHTSA campaign 13V524000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Turtle Top: Electrical System

Turtle Top reported this defect to federal regulators on Oct 18, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 2. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Turtle Top is recalling certain model year 2009 Odyssey LT transit buses built on Ford Chassis manufactured August 1, 2009, through October 13, 2009 and equipped with A & M Systems passenger entrance/exit doors. Voltage spikes may damage the electrical components and electrical circuits of the door actuator, causing the circuit board to develop high resistance.

The risk

High resistance may cause the board to overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

The remedy

Turtle Top will notify owners and A&M Systems will replace the affected circuit boards, free of charge. The recall began on December 9, 2013. Owners may contact Turtle Top at 1-800-296-2105 or A&M at 1-574-522-5000 extension 15.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V524000.
