Daimler Trucks North America: Service Brakes, Air › Disc › Caliper
Daimler Trucks North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Sep 5, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 106. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain model year 2014 Freightliner Cascadia trucks manufactured January 21, 2013, through May 10, 2013; and equipped with Wabco Maxxus Brakes. The brake caliper mounting bolts may be incorrectly torqued, which could result in the bolts loosening.
The risk
The bolts may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate, resulting in the caliper detaching and thus reduced brake effectiveness. Reduced brake effectiveness increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the caliper mounting bolts, as needed, free of charge. The recall began on November 8, 2013. Owner's may contact Daimler at 1-800-547-0712. Daimler's recall number is FL-644.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V403000.
