Setra of North America: Power Train › Axle Assembly
Setra of North America reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 24, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 3. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Setra Luxury Coaches is recalling certain model year 2013 S417TC buses manufactured in April and May 2013. The bolted joint at the lower control arm in the rear axle could loosen due to a change in the manufacturing tightening method.
The risk
If the control arm loosens, it could reduce the driver's ability to control the direction of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Motor Coach Industries (MCI), the designated importer, will notify customers and will retorque the bolted connection. This service will be completed at no cost to the customer. The recall began on September 4, 2013. Owners may contact MCI at 1-866-624-2622 or Setra Customer Service Line at 1-800-241-2947. Setra's campaign number is 32.00U08919A.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V327000.
