NHTSA campaign 13V313000 · Part 573 safety recall report

Morgan 3 Wheeler Limited: Equipment › Other › Labels

Morgan 3 Wheeler Limited reported this defect to federal regulators on Jul 16, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 139. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.

The defect

Morgan 3 Wheeler Limited (Morgan) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 three-wheeled motorcycles manufactured between October 2012 and July 2013. The brake fluid reservoir does not have a brake fluid reservoir filling warning statement. Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirement of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 122, "Motorcycle Brake Systems."

The risk

The operator may not be warned of the brake fluid reservoir filling requirements, which may result in a reduction of brake performance, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Morgan will notify owners and dealers will apply a brake fluid reservoir filling warning label, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Morgan's US Agent at 1-505-570-1845.

What this page is, and what to do next

A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.

This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V313000.
