Prevost Cars, Inc.: Exterior Lighting › Tail Lights
Prevost Cars, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on Jun 28, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 27. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Prevost is recalling certain model year 2013 X3-45 Entertainer coach shells and certain model year 2014 X3-45 highway coaches manufactured October 9, 2012, through June 6, 2013. Improper voltage is being supplied to the tail lamps causing the brightness of the tail lamps to exceed the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Drivers may mistake exceedingly bright tail lamps to be brake lamps confusing following drivers about the intention to brake, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Prevost will notify owners and dealers will update the lamp controller software to ensure the correct voltage is reaching the affected lamps, free of charge. The recall began on August 22, 2013. Prevost's recall number is SR13-53. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-336-393-2233.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V278000.
