Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc.: Equipment
Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. reported this defect to federal regulators on May 7, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 293. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2013 Breeze and Allegro motorhomes. If the awning installation sequence was not completely followed, the awning motor may unknowingly become damaged.
The risk
If motor damage has occurred, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the motorhome is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.
The remedy
Tiffin will notify owners and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with a design that is not subject to an out-of-sequence installation error. The recall began June 24, 2013. Owners may contact Tiffin at 1-256-356-8661 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V178000.
