Starcraft Bus: Equipment › Other › Labels
Starcraft Bus reported this defect to federal regulators on Mar 19, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 399. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Starcraft Bus is recalling certain model year 2004-2009 XLT buses manufactured from January 16, 2004, to October 29, 2009. The affected vehicles have incorrect values for the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating and Gross Axle Weight Rating specified on the certification label. Thus, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
The risk
A misprinted label could lead to improper vehicle loading. Improper loading could result in a tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Starcraft will notify owners, and dealers will remedy the buses by either providing a new certification label, adding additional suspension and upgrading the rear tires, or removing seats. The safety recall began on April 1, 2013. Owners may contact Starcraft Bus at 1-800-348-7440.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V100000.
