Supreme Corporation: Equipment Adaptive/Mobility
Supreme Corporation reported this defect to federal regulators on Feb 28, 2013 and put the number of vehicles at risk at 4. The repair is free for as long as the recall stands.
The defect
Supreme Corporation (Supreme) is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 Startrans MFSAB school buses equipped with Ricon manufactured wheelchair lifts which have an optional armored pendant cable. The armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift.
The risk
If the cable does not clear the wheel chair lift it may contact the power lug and if it does not have a nonconductive cover, or it has an improperly installed non-conductive cover, then a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.
The remedy
Ricon will be conducting this recall on behalf of Supreme. Ricon will notify the affected owners and will provide a supplemental cover kit and instructions, free of charge. The recall began on March 8, 2013. Owners may contact Supreme at 1-877-258-1391 or Ricon at 1-818-267-3000.

What this page is, and what to do next
A recall is not an opinion. It is a Part 573 report a manufacturer is required by federal law to file once it decides a defect poses an unreasonable risk to safety, and it commits them to repairing the vehicle at no cost to the owner. The three passages above are the manufacturer’s own wording as published by NHTSA.
This page describes the campaign. It cannot tell you whether one particular car has already been through the shop — that is tracked by VIN, and only the manufacturer knows it. Check yours at nhtsa.gov/recalls or with a franchised dealer, quoting campaign number 13V083000.
